This is why our focus in design is to create architecture that is in harmony with the environment, aesthetically stimulating and reflecting the vast diversity of our personalities. We approach each project individually working closely with our clients aiming to achieve the optimal solution to their needs and beyond their expectations.

Small Crane Architects is the merger of two well established Galway based Architectural Practices; ORA Architects and Stephen Walton Design. Pooling their extensive experience and knowledge, Small Crane Architects will bring creativity, experience and practicality to your project.

With experience in a variety of projects we will be happy to assist you with all kinds of design undertakings, regardless of size or budget. Our main design ethos is to listen to our clients and create light filled, beautiful and functional spaces that are tailored to their needs and budget.


Who we are

Olga Revollo

Olga qualified as an architect from the Technical University of Architecture in Dresden, Germany. After studying and working in Germany and Italy she has worked for major Irish architectural companies (Wilson Architecture, Cork; Douglas Wallace, Galway) as well as the Interior Design Academy of Ireland. Originally from Germany, Olga has been based in Galway since 2007, establishing her practice ORA Architects in 2009 before merging with Stephen Walton Design in 2022. 

She specialises in domestic refurbishments and extensions and has also designed a number of new houses as well as commercial interiors mainly in Galway city and county. Her focus is on sustainable construction & design using healthy building materials where possible. She strives for the perfect balance between functionality and beauty creating light filled interiors that reflect the owners’ personality.

Stephen Walton

Stephen has been working in the architectural business for the last 20 years. He is renowned for creating exciting unique designs and is most well known in Galway for his iconic commercial spaces; McCambridge’s Restaurant, (IDI Design Award 2013, Highly Commended), Kai Café & Restaurant, Coffeewerk + Press, The Universal, The Portershed (V1).

He is focused on understanding his customers’ way of life, likes and dislikes and he combines this knowledge with his architectural experience to develop designs which aim to enhance peoples’ lives. His previous company Stephen Walton Design focused on one off custom homes, renovations and extensions and commercial interiors.

His approach is one of form follows function and appreciates the simplicity and beauty of good materials and practical and functional designs that evolve from each clients own personality and individual needs.

Maro Makri

Maro studied Architecture at the University of Patras in Greece, graduating with a Master of
Architectural Engineering (with distinction) in 2005.Since then, she has collaborated with several practices in Athens on projects ranging from urban design and public spaces to residential and commercial developments. She also ran her own practice, designing both residential projects and commercial interiors and actively participated in several architectural competitions.

Since 2017, Maro has worked with ORA Architects and currently collaborates with Small Crane
Architects. She has gained valuable experience in Irish construction and planning regulations, particularly in residential extensions, refurbishments, and new-build homes. Her role covers all stages of the architectural process - from site surveys and planning applications to tender documentation and interior architecture. For her, architecture is about creating spaces for the stories of everyday life- in an honest, functional, and poetic way.

Joanna Grzyszka

Joanna is a highly experienced Structural Engineer with over 25 years in the construction industry, including 20 years collaborating with architectural practices in Ireland. She specializes in the design and detailing of structural elements, preparation of working drawings, and coordination of ar-chitectural, structural, and services layouts across residential, healthcare, educational, and commercial projects. Have design experience working with protected structures and high knowledge in passive design.

Joanna holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the Silesian University of Technology in Poland.
